History of Bulldog
Bulldog Design was established in 1998 by owner, Joe Tolman. A 1993 graduate from Keene State College with a degree in Graphic Design, Joe had formerly been the Art Director at MSH Marketing in Keene, before becoming the lead designer for Exponents New York, a trade show exhibit company based just outside New York City, in Cranbury, New Jersey.
By 1998, Joe was doing a lot of freelance design work, and his work was in demand. This is where the story of Bulldog Design officially begins. A few of Bulldog's first design projects were logos for the NECBL's Keene Swamp Bats, a collegiate summer baseball team, and a new athletic logo for Keene State College, where Joe had played baseball. From those few logos, Bulldog was hired to design logos for several more college programs, NECBL teams, collegiate conferences, and so much more.
Joe eventually left Exponents, and in 2004, Joe had begun designing and selling apparel for Keene State Athletics. Instead of continuing to purchase the apparel he was designing, Joe decided to purchase screen printing equipment, with a loan from his father, so he could print and sell his own shirts. Bulldog began getting more and more orders for screen printed goods, and so Joe's wife, Karli, took over the screen printing responsibilities, setting up shop in the couple's basement, as Joe focused on Bulldog's growing design business.
Bulldog continued to grow each year, with more and more clients, both local and nation-wide. In 2013, Joe and Karli purchased RJ Sports, a very popular, and long-standing, local screen-printing, embroidery, sporting goods and engraving company based in Gilsum, NH. With this move, Bulldog now had a staff and location to better handle their ever growing business. At the same time, Bulldog opened a small retail shop in downtown Keene, to better serve clients, and to help promote the business to the community. For 3 years, Bulldog continued to grow in these two locations. In 2016, Joe and Karli were able to purchase a building in Keene, where they could combine the manufacturing and retail operations in one convenient location, just off the campus of Keene State, at 147 Winchester Street, where Bulldog continues to grow today.
Bulldog now offers full-service screen printing, embroidery, team sales and custom on-line apparel/fundraising stores, along with award-winning design services, including logo design, corporate literature, banners and signage, stickers and more. Bulldog also offers thousands and thousands of promotional products. You can get your logo printed on just about anything you can imagine, from footballs to pens to drink-ware. Bulldog also offers it's own retail apparel lines available in the showroom and on-line.
